Multilingual social marketing: five tools, one task each
Five tools for multilingual social marketing, each matched to one task: social approvals, translation management, survey routing or a landing-page check.
What to take away
- This shortlist names five tools that support multilingual social marketing work: memoQ TMS, Smartcat, Hootsuite Advanced, Qualtrics and WAVE. Each is suited to one task, not all five, and only Hootsuite Advanced publishes social posts; the others translate, survey or check a landing page.
- Fix the audience task, language pair and exit test before you shortlist. The route you pick changes what you buy.
- Hootsuite Advanced has the clearest published record for social publishing approvals. memoQ TMS and Smartcat are translation management candidates.
- Qualtrics covers multilingual survey routing on named licences. WAVE checks one web page, not a social post or its captions.
- No price is quoted below, because none of the five publishes a UK price for the configuration you would actually buy.

How this shortlist was drawn
Reviewers worked from public first-party records. A product was admitted only when it met three tests.
- One named product performs one distinct job in multilingual social work.
- A supplier page documents that job, not a product category.
- The reviewer logs what the page leaves unsettled, such as price and UK terms.
Translation agencies, review sites, reseller claims and discontinued products were excluded. The scope is procurement by an organisation in England under UK rules.

memoQ TMS for controlled workflow
memoQ's documentation presents memoQ TMS as its translation management product, sold through cloud plans named Starter, Essential, Professional and Premium. Pick it if you already maintain terminology and need a controlled workflow.
Six questions stay open until you hold a quote: edition, hosting region, social file handling, accessibility, contract length and total cost. Automated checks do not replace a qualified translator or a subject specialist.
memoQ unknowns before buying
- Suitable edition
- Hosting region
- Social-file behaviour
- Accessibility
- Contract terms
- Full cost
Smartcat for cloud translation management
Smartcat's own pages attribute workflow, human review routing, terminology and exchange format import and export to its platform. Its privacy policy describes data practices and international transfers. Those are supplier statements, not independent findings.
Pick it if you want a cloud translation management system and will test it on your own posts. Ask for a dated order form covering tier eligibility, UK terms and VAT. Multilingual social marketing tool implementation sets out how to run that test and prove the exit before you scale.
Hootsuite Advanced for approvals and alt text
The supplier describes Hootsuite Advanced as providing approval workflows and team collaboration for publishing. Pick it if a named approver must clear bilingual posts before they go live.
Its accessibility page links voluntary product accessibility reports and states certain alt-text support. That does not prove a Welsh or Urdu post renders accessibly on every connected network. Test each script, each role, export and rollback.
Qualtrics and WAVE: research and one page check
Qualtrics documents translated surveys inside one dataset and limits the capability to certain licences. Its guidance warns that machine translation may be inaccurate. Pick it for one survey in several languages, then confirm the licence, data terms and participant route.
WAVE is a first-party accessibility evaluation record for web content. WebAIM states that automation cannot determine accessibility. Pick it for a linked landing page. It does not check social creative or captions.
Why no price appears
None of the five publishes a UK list price for the configuration described here. Any number would be a guess. Ask for a written quote naming the licence, seats, term and VAT at the UK standard rate of 20 percent.
Where a vendor processes personal data outside the UK, the ICO UK GDPR guidance hub sets out the lawful basis, transfer mechanism and records you need.
Example: a two-hour buyer test
Take one live bilingual post and one landing page into a single session with each vendor. Ask for approval routing, alt-text output on each target script, an export file and a rollback. Log what fails.
Keep a manual baseline in view
A buyer-controlled asset register, terminology sheet, access log and approval ticket can carry low-volume work without a purchase. Apply the same error, staff-time, recovery and accessibility tests you would apply to software. The manual baseline comparison shows where a paid platform beat the paper process.
Common questions
Does this list rank the five tools?
No. Each tool is judged on one task, so this is a shortlist rather than an order. Use the table row that matches your buyer situation.
Can I manage without buying software?
At low volume, yes. An asset register, terminology sheet and approval ticket cover a small bilingual calendar. Buy software once a test shows a control gain you can measure.
What UK checks apply before signing?
VAT at the standard rate, data transfer terms under UK GDPR, and the contract itself. Advertising and accessibility duties attach to what you publish, not to the tool.
